- 9-Hole Laegue -
The Nine & Dine League is perfect for those who are just starting their golfing journey, who don’t have the time or stamina to commit to 18-holes of play or who haven’t previously played in a women’s golf leaguue. It will give new players an opportunity to start learning the many rules of golf and how they apply on the course, and to understand how league play operates.- League play is every Wednesday morning, except for the first week of every month, starting the second week of April through the end of October. On the first week of every month the Nine & Dine League will join the 18-hole league on Tuesday for a "themed" play day, lunch and socializing, followed by the monthly General Membership Meeting.
- After each Wednesday play day, players have the option to go out to lunch at a local restaurant.
- Players are required to post their own scores in GHIN every time they play to keep their handicap accurate and up to date or establish a handicap if they don’t already have one.
- GHIN Fees -
GHIN fees will no longer be collected by the club. Beginning in 2024 you will be required to pay your Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) fee directly to Northern Nevada Golf Association (NNGA) through their Online Join and Renew (OJR) program.
In conjunction with this new NNGA OJR system, the Carson Valley Women’s Golf Club (CVWGC) is partnering with NNGA to collect our annual Membership dues along with the GHIN fees in a single online transaction. Additionally, CVWGC is transitioning away from the traditional hardcopy paper application to our own “Online Application” process utilizing the NNGA OJR program for collection of dues. This new process will be as follows;- After Feb 15th, logon to the CVWGC website, and from the left navigation pane, click the Members entry and select the Online Application link from the dropdown menu.

- Tee Selection
-
How to select the proper tee box from which to play? Use the new Tee Selection Calculator to check your tee selection.
While there are no official USGA "rules" regarding from which tees to play, there are several usefull guidelines that are explained in this new tool. The USGA has produced a video - "Choosing Which Tees to Play" which does put forth two separate methods to use in determing which tees to play. The "Average Drive Distance" formula, developed by Dr. Steve Otto, and the the "Tee it Forward" chart, developed by the USGA and PGA.
A third method, developed by Chris Miles, is similar to the "Average Drive Distance" formula but uses the average 5-iron distance (5-hybread or 9-wood if you do not have a 5-iron). And finally, the Handicap method is another method utlized by many golf courses to recommend which tees to play.
This Tool covers all four method above, but the "calulator" utilizes only the following three methods;- Average Drive Distance
- Average 5-Iron Distance
- Handcap
